“The calm, wise face of Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, a poet and advocate for black’s and women’s rights, graces the central entryway at Harper Junior High School, 4000 E. Covell Blvd. in Davis, after it was unveiled at a gala reception Monday night. Among the celebrants are English teacher Linda Winter and artist Temo Moreno, who is marking the occasion with a glass of apple cider. While the artwork took Moreno and his 700 student helpers a year to complete, planning for the project began two years ago. For details, see story on Page A4.”--The Davis Enterprise, Tuesday, September 25th, 2007.
